Hello Clare

We ask our residents to inform us of overnight guests, as the smoke/heat detectors in their almshouses (all self-contained bungalows) are linked to our emergency call system, so in the event of a fire we would want to know how many people to tell the fire service are in the property.

This is what our Residents’ Handbook says:

Visitors and Overnight Guests
a. The Charity’s staff must be informed of any overnight guests for safety and security reasons.
b. An occasional visit of up to seven nights by a relative or friend does not require prior permission from the General Manager. If you wish to have a guest stay for more than seven nights, prior permission must be sought from the General Manager.
c. If, for example, you should need to have a spell in hospital and you wish a friend or relative to occupy your accommodation on a short stay basis while you are away so as to be on hand for visiting you, prior permission must be sought from the General Manager.
d. An application for any proposed extended visit must be made in writing and in advance to the General Manager, who will refer your request to the Secretary to determine the maximum period for such occupation and any other conditions.
e. In all circumstances, visitors and overnight guests are expected to abide by the same rules which apply to residents and to respect the privacy of other residents during their visit.

Hope that helps.

Kind regards
