Hello all – we are revising and updating our trustee recruitment procedures.. we would be grateful to receive copies of the essential forms trustees need to sign, ie DeclarTion of trust/ willingness to act as a trustee, declaration of interests, eligibility form , fit and proper persons declaration . I’m wanting to simplify and put them on one form ! Happy to share, once I’ve done it.
    Thanks

If you have any tips on finding suitable candidates to act as trustees, that would be very welcome.

We have struggled with this time and again over the years. Lately, I tried placing an ad on LinkedIn, which received zero response, and then an ad on Indeed which had a decent response level, but half were unsuitable, and half of the remainder didn’t respond to invitations to engage. I think we ended up with four that we invited to interview, two didn’t respond, one accepted the invitation but then didn’t attend the Zoom interview and the last one kept messing us around on agreeing an interview time.

We have now just embarked on reaching out to local professional bodies but it is too early to tell how that’s going to go…

So, we are very much open to advice.

Our last advert for a trustee with a specific skill / background ( surveyor / managing building projects ) , worked by an advert in the local monthly area newsletter. His wife saw it ! I think being specific as to what skill / experience you require helped – as previous general ones had no result. However, I also send it to local U3A , rotary and round table groups with no interest, but I suggest worth a try, as recently retired people tend to join these groups. , We are now seeking someone with a legal background , so fingers crossed it will work again. I’m also going to send to solicitors practices, hoping their receptionist might suggest someone ! I also feel a friendly approach works ie contact …..for an informal chat about the role , we are a friendly , supportive , experienced board etc Good luck – it’s not easy. ! Jo
