One of our Trustees reported he had seen recently changes to the law affecting landlords. Does anyone know what these changes are and if they affect Almshouses too? Many thanks

I believe the changes only apply to tenancies (rather than licences).

Did he mean the’ renters reform bill’ which is currently being discussed in parliament?

    Hi Helen

Yes our reading is that this only affects “Tenants” and not almshouses operating on licenses. We will be staying on top of this anyway.

Do contact us if you want to discuss further.

He may mean the Housing Ombudsman’s Code of complaints which became statutory in April 24. Landlords have to provide information about tenants complaints and how they were dealt with. The due date is March 25 for small trusts.

I think this may be similar to the question I have posed under the thread ‘are we obliged to provide heating 24/7’ when the council told us we have to comply with new rules.
