We have received an email from a charity called London Hearts who on the face of it appear genuine. They claim to have funding to supply defibrillators at a cost of Ā£660 – VAT not applicable.
We do not have one on site and this equipment would appear useful when our Lifeline organisation calls out assistance. The price seems reasonable and we can provide a suitable site and cabinet.
We wonder if others have a defibrillator on site and if the price is reasonable? Has anyone else received an email from London Hearts and know of them?
    Thanks

Yes, our almshouse charity also runs a village hall and we purchased one from London Hearts to install there. They seemed a sound organisation. Their price seems good. There were additional installation costs and St John Ambulance did a teach-in for us, for which we made a donation. It’s great to see more defibrillators around. The life of one of our trustees was saved by a defibrillator last year. Go for it! Regards, Nigel, Fetcham United Charities

It would be a good idea to check with the local council where the closest defib is in respect of your Almshouse, as there may be one closer than you think and they may also be happy to cover the cost or pay for one to be installed in a nearby area.

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) offers free defibrillators to eligible UK-based community groups. Applications are open, and each organization can apply for one award package. The BHF has a history of funding public access defibrillators, and communities can apply for their free defibrillator on the BHF website.

    This is who we used.
