    Hi,

I wondered if anyone had any experience/ ideas for dealing with parcels/ deliveries for residents?

Our site has 24 flats and Wardens on site. The post, including Royal Mail parcels, gets delivered to the Warden’s post box. The post box is small so can hold small parcels. We also receive a number of parcels each day from different couriers (Amazon, Yodel, DHL, Evri and so on) these are for the residents but the couriers (and Royal Mail) tend to leave the parcels outside the Warden’s house, the community room or elsewhere on the site such as outside external doors.

Trustees are concerned about this and are looking at ways to deal with parcels but as they are left at different times of the day, by different couriers it would be tricky to manage. There isn’t capacity to have any sort of lockers anywhere (plus if they were lockable the parcels would still end up outside if someone locks it). The Wardens try to move parcels and deliver, as and when they see them, but due to the nature of the job this isn’t always straight away so there is a risk parcels could be taken by someone else.

We just wondered if anyone has had similar issues and had any ideas? Or is it simply parcels are left at your own risk and should they wish it to be a secure delivery they should have the parcel sent to a secure locker nearby (at a Supermarket for example) or delivered to relatives?

    Thanks in advance

I think you have suggested the most practical (and fair) solution in your last paragraph.

You are not running a boarding school and all your residents are supposed to be living independently. Even the most demanding of them would agree that their WMC (which, after all, is paying for staff salaries) should surely go towards more important things than the provision of a 24/7 post room service for residents.
