Our almshouses are built in the bungalow form. Many of them now have a doorbell with a camera, which is fine. One resident, however, has additional cameras as the building has two entrances. The cameras are slightly overlooking the communal area where other people can be recorded.
Another resident complained about these cameras being installed as they don’t want to be recorded.

As a governing body, the board can ask the resident with cameras to install a sign saying “CCTV in operation” and move the cameras slightly so the communal area will not be captured as much, according to GDPR and DPA regulations.

The charity doesn’t have a policy on CCTV, but the board generally doesn’t mind as it adds security to the area. I guess my question is, can we do anything or rather should we do more about it besides asking to install the signs and divert the cameras away?
Our almshouses are based on independent leaving and we do not encourage trustees’ involvement in personal disputes.

    Many thanks,
    Lana
