How to apply for an Almshouse Association interest-free loan or grant

All applications for loans and grants are considered in accordance with the Association’s established loans and grants process and associated timescales.

Each application will progress through the following three stages:

  1. Eligibility assessment: An initial assessment will be undertaken to determine whether the application meets the Association’s eligibility criteria for a loan or grant. Where an application is not approved, the applicant will, where appropriate, be signposted to alternative sources of support.
  2. Committee review: An assessment and accompanying recommendation will be made by the Association’s Grants and Loans Committee. Subject to approval, an offer of a loan or grant will be made to the applicant.
  3. Governance reporting:  Approved loans and grants will be reported to the Finance and General Purposes Subcommittee and the Board of Trustees in accordance with the Association’s governance and reporting requirements.

We are committed to making the application process as straightforward as possible. To begin, please contact the Association’s Loans and Grants Administrator, Fenella Hall, on 01344 452922 or by email at fenellahall@almshouses.org to obtain more information on our loans and grants programme and to request the appropriate application forms.

Loan and grant applications are considered on a quarterly basis, with the closing date for each round of applications being:

  • Quarter 1         28 February
  • Quarter 2         31 May
  • Quarter 3         31 August
  • Quarter 4         30 November

Applicants are usually notified of the outcome within 15 working days of the applicable closing date.
