    Hi

    just a quick question.

We have recently advertised a vacancy and appointed a new resident (moving in this Friday). Unexpectedly, another vacancy has arisen almost immediately. As we have only recently advertised and we have applicants, some who were interviewed and were unsuccessful although could be potential residents, and others who were not shortlisted but could also be considered suitable (they were just not in immediate housing need as much as the successful new resident)- Would we need to re-advertise again so quickly, or is it OK to use our outstanding applications to do another short list and interview?

    Thank you

We would say ‘No’ to your first question (‘Would we need to re-advertise?’), and ‘Yes’ to your second question (Is it OK to use our outstanding applications to do another short list and interview?).

We would recommend that you save your advertising funds and trustees’ time!

Hi. Our Scheme specifically states we can appoint without having to readvertise within a 12 month period. It would seem very sensible to go back to your list of previous applicants to save time and resources.

We interview all applicants (four times a year, and sometimes out of committee). When a vacancy comes up, we look at everyone on the list, prioritise those most urgent, then try to fit the applicant to the vacancy. This means we always have a pool of possible residents.
