Communal Washing facilities

We have a communal Miele washer and drier for our residents. We did lease from Goodman Sparks (Sheffield) who were bought out by Wascho. They want to meet next week (I assume to put their prices up). Just wondering who other people use and what monthly service charge you pay so I can get an idea of what is reasonable. We are based in Sheffield but I imagine many of the companies are nationwide.

I am not sure if this helps but we have two Miele washing machines and a dryer. We don’t have a service contract and have never found this an issue. We are fortunate that residents take good care when using them. In 6.5 years there have only been three call outs and these have been fairly cheap repairs. We are lucky that there are several local Miele specialists, who can visit promptly.
With one washing machine, a service plan might be better.

I’d be interested in your lease arrangement and what you get quoted, as we have five washing machines and four driers in a complex of 36 flats. I have been wondering about getting some commercial grade machines as the normal domestic ones seem to fail regularly and the manufacturers won’t honour any warranty as they say we are a commercial premises. We have replaced four machines in the last 2 years as they were “uneconomic” to repair.

Leasing may be a way forward I had not considered.

Snap! I had not thought f leasing washing machines and dryers. I would very interested in details. Maybe you can do the same for cookers etc? Food for thought

They are keeping our contract the same (£60pm) for the lease of washer and drier (Washco). I think this is a very good deal and I was panicking unnecessarily about them putting the price up!
