Browne’s Hospital is in Stamford, Lincolnshire. The site is originally a 15C building in this historic town and has 13 Alms houses to the rear.. These flats were upgraded in 1964 . It may be unusua1 that including maintaining the Alms houses also has to maintain the older 15C area of the building.,
. Fortunately one of the previous Governors bequeathed £1.2 million in his Will to Browne’s Hospital and this helped, with wise investment, enormously to maintain both areas of the building. The current insurance policy is with Brown and Brown, formally Higo, were the broker for Browne’s Hospital. I would be pleased to hear from any other Alms House Charity if they find themselves in this and who you are insured with.

    With Best wishes

We use Grouts Insurance at present for most of our insurance but get comparisons from zHigos ( now Browns) and use them for boiler Insurance

We use Grouts but they have been unhelpful (to the point of obstructive) when trying to submit a claim. We are considering going to Brown and Brown. Would that be recommended?

Definitely reccomend them for friendliness and helpfulness. Also good quotations – hence we have moved our boiler policy across and will move lift next year
Once our current 5 year contract via Grouts ends we will be obtaining a comparative quotation from Brown and Brown
