In addition to the annual accounts, we wish to develop a medium-term (3-5 years) financial plan to complement our quinquennial property survey and management of investments and reserves. Grateful if colleagues were able to share their medium-term financial plan and/or their experience in developing medium-term financial plan and/or relevant guidance they are aware of, thanks David

We have a monthly cashflow which is projected for a year ahead. Interestingly a new member of our Finance and Risk committee has suggested a 5 year plan. We could simply extend the cashflow for another 4 years but not sure how useful this is going to be.
So thoughts from others welcomed on this
    thanks

    Thanks William for your comment.

I personally think a monthly cashflow forecast over 3-5 years is likely to suggest more precision than is reality given the volatility of utility and other costs.

Our thinking is developing along the lines of top-line 5 year annual forecast for revenues (fairly predictable) and overall costs along with estimates for likely potential major project costs (eg new roof) to get a sense of how much financial flexibility as an Almshouse we have and to generate an estimate of how much we should set aside in sinking funds for specific projects.
