I work for two charities and both need a quinquennial report doing. I have received a quote for one – thinking I would get three and go with the best for both charities and am astounded that the assessment will be in excess of £10,000.

Do we legally need to do these? Can they be done by someone further down the food chain so to speak, this seems extortionate and was a company on the AA recommended list.

I guess the quotations would depend on the size of your almshouses? We have 8 single storey one bedroom flats in an old listed almshouse and were charged £600. The report is focusing on the building and work required, not electrics, or health & safety etc. these were separate items (NFU for health & safety)

It depends on how many units you have. We have 202 almshouses, 26 general needs flats, 5 investment properties, and were charged £1,000 last year. We have been out for quotations in the past and competitors have quoted much much more.
