Smoking and Vaping Policy

We are looking at reviewing our current policy on Smoking and Vaping on site for residents which currently permits them to smoke in their own flats and in designated areas on site. We do not have a lot of smokers and are considering introducing a new criteria for all new residents to be non smokers and wondered whether other Almshouses had come across this problem and developed policy to combat it. Yes we introduced a policy of No smoking on our site and in residents accommodation about 10 years ago.
Existing residents were exempted. The last of these smokers has recently died so we are now totally smoke free

We also have a no smoking/vaping policy which came into force before my time and was phased in as new residents joined us. Nobody is permitted to smoke or vape in any of the flats, communal areas or grounds. We make prospective residents aware of this before the application process starts.
