Hi,
In both our Residents Appointment Letter and Handbook (that we are currently updating) we say that ‘Residents must live in the almshouse as their permanent home and not be absent for more than 28 day consecutive days in any one year without the prior consent of the Charity. If you go away for any period, including overnight stays, they must inform the Clerk of their temporary address and contact phone number, plus they must let the Clerk know when they arrive home.’
Clearly absences because of hospitalisation will be the exception to the rule.
I think overnight stays are extremely difficult to monitor, unless there is an element of trust and a resident wants to tell you.
Hope that helps a bit.
