    One of my other Almshouse Charities installed some on their properties last year. We obtained a grant from our local council which paid for 50% of the cost. We used https://www.optimumelectrics.co.uk but like Vanessa, we obtained three quotes – this was actually a condition of the grant too.

    As a guide, the cost was around £7k per property. This was for 8 panels and a 5.12kWh battery per property.

    We allow a two week WMC free period for clearance but after that the WMC becomes payable again.

    Our charity is 5% for both. We only have two part time employees so doesn’t add up to a huge amount.
