Criteria

  • In housing need – in temporary or very unsuitable accommodation or facing eviction
  • Of modest means – this may mean eligible for Housing Benefit
  • 60 years or older
  •  Living in Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames or with links to the Borough  
  • Capable of independent living – able to look after yourself and your home, if necessary, with help from friends, family or social services.
  • Aware of the need for give and take when living in close proximity to others.

Soroptimist (London) Housing Association Ltd

Soroptimist (London) Housing Association Ltd has large second floor one bedroom flat available for rent.  We are a small Almshouse organisation based in Wandsworth London, which offers accommodation only to single women aged 50 + years.

While most residents will be retired, the organisation recognises that some residents may work full or part time.

The current vacant flat comprises of one large bedroom with a bathroom room, a kitchen with an oven and hob/oven/fridge/freezer, parking on the street (with a council residents’ parking permit), secluded communal gardens and the use of communal laundry room.

Criteria

The criteria to live in one of the properties is as follows:

  1. You must be able to live independently.
  2. Have limited financial means.
  3. Have no pets.
  4. Are a non-smoker.

If you are interested the stages for applying are as follows:

  1. You need to ask for a registration form and return by email it to sorophousingofficer@gmail.com  or by post to the Housing Officer, Soroptimist (London) Housing Association Ltd, Flat 12, 5 Genoa Ave., Putney, London SW15 6DY.
  2. If you meet the criteria, I will invite you to see the flat.
  3. Then if you are still interested I will send for your references
  4. Arrange for you to be interview by some of the committee members.
  5. Then if successful, agree a date when you can move in.

Most of our accommodation is studio apartments, though we have a few one bedroom apartments.

If the current contribution is too expensive you can request to go on our waiting list as our studio flats are not as expensive.
