Selby United Charities administers The Gowthorpe Almshouses; these are situated on Gowthorpe, only a short walk into Selby town centre. Our aim is to provide convenient and comfortable accommodation in a setting which allows residents to live as independently as possible. The vacant almshouse is a compact, unfurnished one-bedroom house, with combined living room/ kitchen, one bedroom and shower room. It has recently been refurbished   Suitable for single occupancy. There is also a communal garden.

St Mary Magdalen’s & St John’s Hospital – Ripon, North Yorkshire


The above mentioned Charity has 16 single-storey dwellings for independent living within the City of Ripon, 15 of which are single occupancy and one double occupancy. All properties have a small section of garden specific to each as well as communal space offering an area to sit and enjoy. All are within walking distance of the centre where a number of shops and amenities can be found.


The Trust gives preference to persons in need aged 50 and over who have lived in Ripon or the surrounding district for at least five years, but is also prepared to consider other applicants.
