HRH The Prince of Wales visited the Bond’s Hospital Almshouses in May and HRH The Duke of Gloucester has had an incredibly busy September!

Following his visit to St Mary Magdalen almshouses in Colchester to join in the celebrations for their 900th anniversary and Winnocks and Kendall almshouses where he viewed the nine fabulous new almshouses built next to the original 17th Century almshouses right in the heart of the community in Colchester,  on 22 September HRH made a visit to Caterham to celebrate an 80th anniversary!

The Le Personne Homes in Banstead Road, Caterham, were delighted to receive a visit from HRH The Duke of Gloucester who was welcomed by The Lord Lieutenant of Surrey, Michael More-Molyneux and presented to Simon Morrow Chairman Tanbridge District Council, Sarah More-Molyneux, Nick Phillips Chief Executive of The Almshouse Association, Eithne Webster Chair of Le Personne Almshouses, Mr Patrick Cannon Vice Chairman and Mrs Wendy Hulme Warden.

The Duke met staff and trustees and toured the homes meeting residents. The Duke heard about the history of the Trust and the achievements of Henrietta le Personne and was very pleased to be asked to unveil a plaque to commemorate his special visit.

Afterwards he met and chatted to several of the residents while enjoying a delicious afternoon tea with everyone in the residents’ lounge.

Celebrations continued into the evening with a party for residents.
