About Stoke Hospital almshouses (aka The Hospital of William Parson)

Stoke Hospital almshousesprovides affordable homes for 14 single older adults able to live independently in Guildford.

The Charity is governed by a Board of Trustees who work together to ensure the Charity remains well‑governed, financially sustainable, and true to its original aims.

The Role

There are currently 6 trustees, however due to terms of office coming to an end, the Charity now seeks to recruit 2 new trustees, including one person to be the Chair.

Trustees share collective responsibility for the Charity’s governance, financial management, and long-term sustainability. The Trust Partnership provides day to day operational services including administration, financial management and property maintenance.

Skills and Experience

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds, skills, and lived experience.

Time Commitment

The role involves four evening meetings per year, which are held in person at the almshouses. There may be email or phone contact between meetings if a decision or authorisation is needed.

There are also a small number of social events each year with the residents which trustees are encouraged to attend.

Location

The Charity is located in Guildford and seeks to recruit local people.
