Janet, Nick’s reply was excellent and all I can add is that we do not allow residents to store items such as folding garden chairs, bikes etc in doorways. They need to be kept clear in case of an emergency as we would need to be able to open both halves of the door and items behind them would prevent this.
So I believe this is something you can enforce.

We provide some sheds which we build and maintain, as it is helpful for the Brothers to have some outdoor space in which to store some of their belongings especially if they have a garden chair, spare boxes etc..
