    Hi
We use Brown and Brown (formerly Higos) and the policy is with Ecclesiastical. At the start of this year we had a water leak which resulted in a large claim for damage as well as rehousing the resident for nearly four months. The service we received was exemplary. They appointed a Loss Adjuster who not only knew his job but also had a great deal of compassion for the resident. As with all big claims we had bumps in the road but again these were all dealt with satisfactorily . I have no hesitation at all in recommending Brown & Brown and Ecclesiastical.

The Almshouse I Clerk for only charges a MMC. No allowance is made for different costs. The MMC is set well below HB, but the Trustees do not want to increase at as those residents that are self funding would have to pay more. I think we need to review and perhaps move on from just agreeing what sounds like a fair increase each year…

    All guidance gratefully received.

Fortunately we are not registered, and I believe we have never been registered. I guess they will let me know if there is a problem!

We have decided to withdraw from HO membership for now. The work required is not sustainable as a small charity with largely co opted (did not choose to do this) Trustees.

I am the Clerk, a volunteer post with a small Honorarium, for a Charity with 16 flats on one site. We are registered with the Ombudsman and have discovered we need to jump through some hoops re procedures. Is it now mandatory that I have some
level of formal training? This is has been a steep learn on the job process since taking the role on and I do not have time for mandated training.

I am feeling more than a little concerned, it has taken considerable time to put policies for Fire, Legionella etc in place and upgrade plumbing to the standards seemed necessary for a small landlord.
