Good advice from Nick, as always above.
I completely agree about keeping it flexible. It very much depends on their outgoings. We tend not to discount anyone with “modest” savings as it is (in our opinion) wrong to penalise those who have been prudent and put some money away for their mature years.
As a very rough guide we would tend not to house someone with an interest or ownership of property but would not discount anything for example who is retired, and living on a state pension with savings of around £80k. That is just an example.

    Hi Catherine
We have a few beneficiaries who have wanted to move in the past primarily as our units vary in size and standard and they are looking for an “upgrade”. In some circumstances we have allowed this – for example one lady with limited mobility needed more space for a frame. We tend to say if a unit becomes vacant they may apply and their application will be considered in line with other applications. Is it worth suggesting they get Environmental Health involved for a independent 3rd party review. Have you got an adopted complaints procedure and policy? We have had similar situation to yours and have suggested this/put in place. Thankfully it has quietened down for now!
Feel free to get in touch if you think I might be able to help further or just want to chat it through.
    Kind regards

Thanks Nick. How do you reach this conclusion? I’ve had a look through the AA manual and struggling to see that we do but happy to be corrected. I’m just trying to reach the correct conclusion. Thanks again for your time.

Thanks Nick. So do you feel that a charity/beneficiary relationship there is a greater duty of care than in a Landlord and Tenant relationship? I appreciate your thoughts and experience.

The webinar on independent living is helpful on this topic. Some good advice above also – thank you.
