Can anyone point to the specific legal requirement that PAT testing applies to almshouse charities that are not registered social landlords?

That’s very helpful, thank you. From that reading, it would seem that even built in ovens which are plugged in rather than hard wired are liable. Some of our built in ovens are plug in, it just depends on the rating of the individual oven as we have a variety of makes. Similarly, gas fired hobs which have plug in mains ignition would also seem to be liable. That’s a lot of testing over 32 almshouses!

Would PAT testing white goods extend to a freestanding gas cooker with mains electric ignition?

Our Society have always provided a traditional freestanding gas cooker. In recent years, these have been phased out and replaced with a built in gas hob and electric fan oven as part of a kitchen refit. All gas units are serviced annually by the Society. We have never provided any white goods. If freestanding I believe they would need PAT testing and just become a maintenance burden.

Similarly , we fit anti-slip vinyl (Polyflor) in the kitchen, utility and bathroom/wetroom. We do not provide carpets but if they are left by the outgoing resident and are in good condition, they are cleaned and the incoming resident is advised they are provided as a good will gesture but are their responsibility.
