2 Bedroom almshouse home becoming available in September on More’s Meadow.
Criteria:
Applications are invited from people who are:
- resident in Great Shelford or who have a strong connection to the village
- and are on low incomes
- and in housing need
- and are capable of independent living.
Almshouse residents are ‘appointees’, not tenants, living in our almshouses under licence, paying a monthly maintenance contribution (MMC) rather than a rent.
The Charity sets its MMC at 50% of the rental rate for similar private property in the village.

Great Shelford Village Charity
Applications should be submitted to John Huntingdon’s Charity (JHC) by Midday on 25 August 2025. They will be processed in confidence by JHC – and anonymised – before being forwarded to the charity directors for shortlisting. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an informal interview.

One bedroom flat in a 5-storey purpose-built block, completed in 2016, set in attractive grounds at the top of Sydenham Hill.
Support staff comprise: Resident Scheme Manager, Resident Deputy Scheme Manager, Premises Manager and House-keeping team.
