    HI Nick,

Thank you. Would it be possible to send us something across to info@waterhousecharities.co.uk so we could have a look?

WE have SAGE for the accounts so it would be something for resident records, any notes we need to make if informed of anything, maintenance issued/ regular maintenance and so on. Thanks again

    Hi Susan
Please could I have a copy of your questionnaire too please? We are currently looking at ways to communicate/ engage with residents alongside regular visits by the warden/ scheme manager.
If you could send it to info@waterhousecharities.co.uk I would appreciate it.
Do you find the Resident Forums to be quite challenging or are residents less confrontational as they feel more involved?
    Thanks in advance

Hi Nick that’s really helpful thank you. Do you charge residents for the PPP system or is that something which is provided by your Charity? At present some of our residents have a careline but they would be for medical emergencies only- and there is a cost direct to the resident. Thanks again

we don’t have a policy in place either but face the same problem at one of our sites with a shared heating system. Similarly residents are not dressing appropriately/ trying to do things to make themselves warmer so it is frustrating.

Sorry to tag on to this post but I wondered what other Almshouses do in relation to fitted hobs and ovens? Mostly our residents inherit the hob (fitted in to the work top) and oven (not freestanding it is slotted in to the kitchen units at chest height) and we have always considered these to be the responsibility of the resident.

However, we are aware the hob would not be covered under their contents insurance (as fitted to the kitchen unit it would be buildings insurance) and the oven could be debatable for insurance purposes, so wondering what other Almshouses do and if we should consider this as part of what we provide (we do not provide washing machine/ fridge freezer as these are freestanding).
    Thank you

    Hi,

I’m not sure about others but we (Waterhouse and Mackintosh Homes) don’t provide carpets. The reasons being, as you’ve mentioned, is because it is a soft furnishing/ classed as a content for insurance purposes and also that people treat carpets in different ways (some may need replacing after 2 years whereas others over 10). If there is a vacant flat and the previous resident/ their family has left the carpet and it is in good condition we give the new resident the option f replacing- if they want to keep the carpet then we pay for cleaning it.

    Hope that makes sense
